Jean Guy Friday April 17th 2020

Jean Guy
Beloved wife of the late Bev Guy, entered into rest at Brockville General Hospital on April 17th, 2020 following a 2 year illness from Cancer. Jean was born in England December 18th, 1945 to Winifred nee Waller and Luke Ryan. As a teenager in the 60’s she marched in demonstrations to “Ban the Bomb” and “Save the Whales”. In her own words she was a bit of a rebel in her teenage years. She met Bev while working as a waitress in a Wimpy’s restaurant. Together they shared a passion for purebred dogs and owned Alsatians first and later became involved in Chow Chows. A hobby they committed to together. Their life together, and with their family, revolved around activities with showing dogs and raising puppies. Jean was also an avid reader, knitter, gardener, figure skating enthusiast and animal lover. The family immigrated to Canada, first residing in Nova Scotia and later moving to Ontario and the Brockville region. Jean and Bev travelled to various places in the world together and had many plans for future trips that did not occur due to Bev’s early death from cancer caused by a workplace exposure to asbestos. Jean found life without her husband a challenge in many ways and spoke often of seeing him again one day. She is survived by her two children Michael and Michelle and her four siblings, Jennifer, Lynn, Robert and Deborah, who all reside in England. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also in England. She was also predeceased by her parents, and her niece Kimberly, who died of Cystic Fibrosis. Jean was plagued with various health challenges in the last 8-10 years of her life. The family would like to thank Diane De Broux, Jean’s friend, for the care and assistance she provided to Jean in the final weeks of her life. They would also like to specifically single out Dr. Steacie for the excellent care he provided to Jean over the years. They would also like to thank the nurses and physicians that provided care to her in end of life while in Brockville General Hospital. We take solace in knowing she is now with Bev and no longer in pain. Donations to the Alzheimer Society or the Humane Society of Brockville are gratefully acknowledged by the family.
