1933-2020
Margaret Jean (Hollis) Cameron, passed
away Wednesday, January 29, 2020, in the Glen Haven Manor, New
Glasgow. Born March 1, 1933 in West Linden, Cumberland Co., Jean was
predeceased by her loving husband, Robert A. Cameron in 2008;
brothers: George, Fred and Jack Rae (Barb). Jean is survived by
sisters-in-law: Mabel, Elsie, Marilyn and Nancy; many nieces, nephews
and special friends. Jean left home at an early age to begin work in
Moncton at Maritime Blue Cross and attended night classes at Robinson
Business College. From there, she went to Montreal with Northern
Electric and then in 1954 to the V.G. Hospital, Halifax. In 1955, Jean
moved to New Glasgow and married Robert A. Cameron, and was employed
at Maritime Steel and Foundry for 46 years. Jean devoted her life to
her husband, Bob. They spent 52 wonderful years together and were
soulmates to the end. Jean enjoyed music, working in her gardens,
bowling, leather and copper work and going to the cottage. Visitation
12 pm – 1 pm Saturday, February 1, in the R.H. Porter
Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, with funeral service to
follow at 1 pm Saturday, Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Reception
to follow the service. Burial will take place in Renwick Cemetery,
Linden, at a later date. Donations in memory of Jean may be made to
the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer Society of N.S. or a charity of
choice.
