Janice Lynne Robinson nee Pollard 2020

It is with sadness, that we announce the passing of Janice Lynne Robinson (nee Pollard) on September 21, 2020, at the age of 71. She is survived by her loving husband Gordie Robinson, sons Kyle (Carin) and Darren (Nicole) Robinson, grandchildren Aidan, Lily, Kya, Davis and Claire; sisters Sharon (Doug) Carabetta and Donna (Doug) Beattie; as well as many cousins and relatives. She is home now and has been reunited with her mother, Jean and father, George Pollard.
Janice was born in Rossland, BC on April 21, 1949. As a little girl, she loved playing (and sometimes fighting) with her sisters and growing up in their small town. Her father and mother taught her the importance of family and the value of building a legacy.
She married Gordon Alexander Robinson on May 16, 1970, at St. John’s Anglican Church in Victoria, BC. They enjoyed a pleasant honeymoon in Hawaii.
Janice and Gordie welcomed their sons, Kyle, on February 29, 1976 and Darren, on June 16, 1978. During their young years, Janice and Gordie along with Doug and Donna built a cabin on Lake Cowichan which, became a traditional home for summer vacations, Easter dinners and Thanksgiving dinners. In July 1999, Janice and Gordie moved to Nanaimo, for a management position for Gordie. While in Nanaimo they hosted 15 international students over 4 years.
During their time in Nanaimo, they travelled to Las Vegas, Tofino, Ucluelet, Florida, went on a Mediterranean Cruise, Costa Rica, Alaskan Cruise, Mazatlan and Ontario. Janice and Gordie purchased Long Lake Bed and Breakfast in March 2008. There, they met guests from all over the world and completed many renovations. In January 2016, they sold the B&B and they purchased a home with Nicole and Darren in 2018 in Mill Bay. They also began exploring North America in their 2008 Winnebago and 2016 Jayco including a trip to Whitehorse and recently many spots on Vancouver Island.
In lieu of flowers, Janice wishes for donations to be made to Kidneys on the Move.
Please address your cheque to “Kidneys on the Move”, and mail to 880 Walfred Road, Victoria, B.C. V9C 2P2. Your cheque will be forwarded onto The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC and Yukon Branch.
Janice and Gordie have been dedicated supporters to Kidneys on the Move since Feb. 2000 in memory of their beloved friend Doug Hobbs, who started this benefit in support of families and patients in need of kidney transplantation. Janice enjoyed a life long friendship with Maureen Hobbs who helped support her through her illness.
A private celebration of life service will be held in October.
