Obituary of Janet Evelyn Smith
SMITH, Janet Evelyn (nee Nelson) peacefully on Feb 26, 2020 at 76 years of age, at Southampton Hospital, surrounded by her family, Janet left her earthly home on the shore of Chesley Lake where she had happily resided in retirement with her husband for over 25 years. Janet was born in Fort Erie Ontario to William and Marion (nee Plato) Nelson. Throughout her life she provided a loving family home for her husband and children as they moved to Brantford, Toronto, Niagara Falls, Montreal, Leamington and Burlington. Janet is survived by her husband of 57 years Robert Ellwyn, her daughters Terri of Caledonia and Tracey (David) Wilkinson of Guelph, and son Michael (Lisa) of Wilmington, Delaware. She was a proud loving mother to her children and devoted grandmother to Will, Jessica and Sean. Survived by her brothers Wayne (Carole) of Fort Erie and Robb of Toronto. Missed by her Aunt Gladys and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Predeceased by parents William Nelson, Marion (nee Plato), father-in-law Roswell Smith and mother-in-law Viola (nee Caudle) and brother-in-law Wray Smith (Nancy). The family wishes to thank her Doctors, Paramed workers, especially Judy Viner, and the Victorian Order of Nurses for their dedicated care over the last several years. Friends may call at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth Sunday March 1, 2020 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home Monday at 1:00 p.m. Spring interment Zion Cemetery, Hepworth. Expressions of remembrance to the Owen Sound Hospital Oncology Department or the Womens Centre of Grey Bruce would be appreciated.
