Janean Hager Messenger 1950 2020

Obituary of Janean Hager (Messenger)
“She’s the rhythm of our hearts”
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janean Elizabeth Hager (nee Messenger) our beloved mother and nana. This comes after steadily enduring the relentless challenges of early onset Alzheimer’s. She is predeceased by her devoted husband of 47 years, Leslie W. A. Hager (Sandy), her parents Bob and Jean Messenger, and Sandy’s parents Keith and Muriel Hager. She leaves behind her children Jason and Christine (Denis), and her cherished grandchildren Julian and Vincent. Caring mother to her foster son Harry (Dan) Clemett. Janean was an adored sister to her brother Robert Messenger (Irene) of Vancouver and Kathy Fearn (John) of Markham. Janean was an integral part of her extended Hager family. She cared about her sister- and brother- in-laws immensely. Including Lynn & Doug, Wendy & Tony, Debbie, Kim & Trevor. She held her role of Aunty Janean to many nieces and nephews very dear in her heart; Little Janean, Emma, Andrea, Laurie, Matthew, Julie, Adam, Eric, Andrew, Alex, Cody, Courtney & their caring families. We expect her to be welcomed fondly into heaven by her true love Sandy and Baby Girl Hager, and her predeceased nephews Todd Messenger, Christopher Maduri, and great-nephew Jason Donoso. She is also remembered dearly by her Aunt Betty & Uncle Gordy, Many Cousins, and her Gray’s IDA Family.
Friends and acquaintances bonded very strongly with Janean and have been missing her dearly, especially during our recent pandemic restriction period, and will continue to do so now that she is resting peacefully. Janean was born in Vancouver B.C., on June 22, 1950 and later lived with her family in Winnipeg and Toronto. She settled in South Shore Hay Bay with Sandy, but not until taking one last rip out west for their honeymoon! Hay Bay has been her home since the 70’s and is where she has built, nourished and maintained the many special relationships in her life. She rose to every challenge in her life with positivity, poise, love, laughter, strength, and resilience. She was a creative, happy, festive, hardworking woman who best relaxed with long conversations over a cup of tea. Our mother loved family traditions, holidays and especially Christmas.
In honor of Janean’s love for people and food we ask that you make a memorial donation to Morningstar Mission in Napanee or Family and Children’s Services – Frontenac L&A. This will hopefully bring someone warmth or nourishment, but most importantly recognition and acceptance.
A private family Funeral Service will be held at Conway United Church. Friends of the family are welcome to attend the Graveside Service at Allen Cemetery (across from #2501 South Shore Rd., Hay Bay) on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 12:30 pm. Please confirm your attendance for the Graveside Service by clicking the RSVP tab on the bottom of Janean’s memorial page or by calling the Funeral Home (613-386-7373). Masks and physical distancing rules will apply.
Arrangements entrusted to the Payne Funeral Home, 178 Main St., Odessa, Ontario K0H 2H0.
