Jamie’s Obituary
McSween, James John “Jamie” – Age 56 of Bayhead (Tatamagouche) passed away February 17, 2020 at home. Born and raised in Truro, he was the son of the late Lorne S. and Edith V. (Goulden) McSween. Jamie graduated from Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro and then from the Truro Vocational School with a diploma in Automobile Mechanics. Jamie was very artistic, creative and good with his hands. He started his life long career with Yould’s Stationary Store in Truro maintaining and repairing photocopiers. He was with the company and successive businesses until retiring three years ago for health reasons. He was well loved by his clients. He liked to play music on guitar or the piano. He was a natural born mariner. He loved rowing and sailing at his family’s cottage at Bayhead, which he eventually turned into his permanent home. He was even known for taking his boats across the strait to PEI alone. He was inquisitive about many things, with determined and persistent effort he found solutions to the problems. He liked to keep things in good working order. Jamie had a great sense of humor and could tell a good story. He approached life with care and valued his friendships, as he was a loyal friend. Jamie is survived by his sister, Karel (Dean) Olsen, Boise, Idaho; brothers, Gary, Lunenburg; Bill, Lunenburg; niece, Kaela (Brett) Becklund; nephews, Sebastian (Jennifer) McSween and Michael (Melanie) Olsen; grand-nieces, Kamryn and Sophie; grand nephews, Johnathan, James, and Jackson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter’s Funeral Home (902-657-3288), Tatamagouche. No visitation to be held. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 28th in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 148 Evergreen Dr., Truro, President, Steve Brogan officiating with reception to follow in the Church. Interment will be at a later date in Lockerby Memorial Cemetery, Tatamagouche. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Independent Order of Oddfellows (IOOF) in Tatamagouche would be appreciated.
