It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Strowbridge announce his passing on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 93 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 71 years Maude (nee Rose); children: Joy (Cal), Lillian, Linda, Sheila (Ted), Eric (Bertha) and Jim (Loretta); 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends whom he loved very much. He was predeceased by his parents George and Fanny, brothers Simeon and Joseph, sisters Clara, Myrtle, Lena and Blanche, son-in-law Robert and daughter-in-law Elaine. A special thank you to the staff of 3rd floor medicine and the palliative care unit. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with Archbishop Stewart Payne officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy in lieu flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Memorial Fund.
