~~~~~~~~~~
It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of James Allen Brown. A gentle soul, a devoted husband, a loving stepfather and grandfather, a committed member of his community – the First Presbyterian Church, Lions Club and St. James Masonic Lodge – a grower of all things beautiful, a lover of animals, a patient fisherman. James (Jimmy, Papa, Charlie) will be missed by many who will share the memory of his hearty laugh and youthful grin. James passed away peacefully early Saturday morning at The Ottawa Hospital with family by his side.
James was a caring and dedicated family man; husband to Verna, stepfather to Judy (Holmer), Wayne (Sue) and Wendy. He was sadly predeceased by both Brenda and her partner Brad. He was grandfather to Stefanie (Ron), Andrew, Hannah, Alanna, Grant, Edward and Rena and great grandfather to Alyssa, Elizabeth, Nicholas, and Madeline. He leaves behind his brothers Duane (Susan), Larry (Shirley, recently passed), Donald (Mary Jane), David (Theresa), Gerald (Marilyn, recently passed). His sister, Carol, left us too soon as well. He was the son of the late Lorne and Maida Brown and spent many years in the loving care of Aunt Molly. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland on Thursday, October 22 from 10 am until 4 pm followed by a Masonic Memorial Service at 4:30 pm.
A funeral in honour and celebration of Jimmy’s life will take place in the Roselawn Chapel on Friday, October 23rd at 11 am with interment to follow. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance at the indoor service will be limited to approximately 50 guests and safety precautions will in effect.
NOTE: Covid protocols will be in place and pre-registration of attendance for visitation and service is requested. To register, please RSVP below or call 613-342-2828.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to St. James Masonic Lodge would be gratefully acknowledged.
