COOMBS, James (Jim) Andrew
Passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at the age of 89 years from cancer. Beloved husband of Carole Desormeaux (née McDonell) and the late Gilberta (Bertie) Howes (d. 2017). Dear father of Andy (Klara), Karen (Alex) and Donald (Debbie). Cherished grandfather of Adam, Claire, Karl and Erik and great grandfather to Sadie. Brother of Michael and brother-in-law of Jan Coombs, Ian and Ruth Howes. Predeceased by his brother Donald and sister Mary Jane.
After graduation from the University of Western Ontario, Jim worked as an economist and executive with Bell Canada (Montreal), NB Tel (Saint John) and SaskTel (Regina) before moving to the Ottawa area where he lived in Manotick and Stittsville. Memorial visitation will be held at the
Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes
3440 Richmond Rd, Ottawa (between Bayshore and Baseline rd.)
on Monday, March 9th, 2020 at 11 a.m., followed by a service in the chapel at noon. Reception to follow.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and other health care professionals of the Ottawa Hospitals for the assistance they provided during Jim’s fight with cancer, specifically including Ottawa Palliative Care Services.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care Ottawa or to the Ottawa Regional Cancer Centre. Condolences, tributes and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
