Passed peacefully away at the PCU of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre on Sunday, January 19, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Poole’s Island, Bonavista Bay, Jim’s talent for playing softball and his passion for the Toronto Maple Leafs was cultivated while growing up at the Church of England Orphanage in St. John’s. Predeceased by his parents Emily and Arthur Bown and his daughter Barbara Ann. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Emily, stepsons Don and David Anthony and their families, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Sunday, January 26 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm and Monday, January 27 from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, January 28 at 2:00 pm from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, 98 Kenmount Road. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be directed to the PCU of the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre, Eastern Health, or a charity of your choice.
