Obituary
The passing of James Robert ‘Jamie’ Howlett, loving husband of Jo Ann Howlett, occurred on January 1, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Ralph and Viola (Blizzard) Howlett.
He served with the Canadian Navy as a Seaman, had worked with Irving Pulp and Paper and was a Tugboat Captain on the Saint John River. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, was a skilled bowman and a respected hunting & fishing guide and enjoyed playing hockey. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus with Council #8364 and part of the AART Team.
Besides his wife Jo Ann, he is survived by his sons; James Edward Howlett (Barbara) and Paul Howlett (Lisa); daughters; Tanya Bowe (David) and Cynthia Dunbar (Kevin); step-son Kevin Stafford; step-daughter Joan Woods; brother George Howlett (Vera); sisters, Bernice Garnett, Rena Fairweather (Gordon), Carol Logue, Sandra Woods (William), and Joyce Murphy; his special grandson Austin along with 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers; Richard, Charles and Ralph Howlett; and sisters Dorothy Foote and Phyllis Moore.
Visitiation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), from 2-4 and 6-8pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, January 6, 2020 from the Holy Redeemer Parish (St. Pius X Church). Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances made to Romero House Soup Kitchen would be appreciated.
