James Earl Dawdy
1938-2020
James Earl Dawdy, entered his eternal life with Christ on April 30th,
2020 after a month long battle with COVID-19 at the Guelph General
Hospital.
Jim was born on September 24, 1938 in St, Thomas, Ontario to Edith and
Earl Dawdy. He was the first of three children. Jim married Lorna
Dickson on Aug 11, 1962. They raisedtheir five children together in
Cambridge, Ontario. He was a loving husband and father who recognized
his children’s talents. He saw each one of his kids as unique
and encouraged their strengths and taught them how to overcome their
weaknesses.
Jim was an accomplished artist gifted in many mediums which he
continued to display even after a stroke left his right arm paralyzed
and took his speech away 22 years ago.He persevered.
Jim is survived by his devoted and loving wife Lorna Dawdy. Their
children Brent (Cathy), Craig (Janna), Sean (Jen), Leanne Cwilewicz
(Adam) and Brad (Christa). His 15grandchildren and 5
great-grandchildren. His sister Jane Gordon (Ron) of St. Thomas.
Predeceased by his parents Edith and Earl, his mother and
father-in-law Louise and Edward Dickson, sister Victoria Titchner and
brother-in-law John Titchner
His children pay this tribute to him: “Our Dad was sensitive,
warm and kind, he could always be depended on. We look forward to the
day when we can all meet himagain free of his disabilities that
plagued his earthly body.”
The family wish to extend their most sincere thank you to the Guelph
Wellington EMS, the staff at the Guelph General Hospital ER staff,
RT’s, 4E staff (especiallyLucas), Dr. Karen Kennedy and Dr.
Grace Morrison for their exceptional care. Thank you to Pastor Ernest
Kennedy for his words of love and encouragement to our dad which he
was able to hear prior to his death. Thank you to the staff at Corbett
Funeral Home for their kindness and guidance through this difficult
time.

A private family celebration of Jim’s life will take place at a
later date when it is safe to gather again. Until then, stay safe,
stay home, stay healthy.
