James Charles MacPherson
November 06, 1954 – December 11, 2020
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that the family of James Charles MacPherson also known as Jim, announce his sudden passing on December 11, 2020 at the Halifax Infirmary surrounded by family.
Jim was born on November 6, 1954 in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland. He is the son of the late Roddie and Nora (nee Hayes) MacPherson. Jim grew up in Lochleven, Newfoundland, spending much of his childhood lending a helping hand and developing his work ethic. This did not change, because as an adult, Jim began vocational school in 1975 eventually becoming a red seal heavy duty equipment and automotive mechanic. Jim began his career in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia where he studied his trade, and eventually moved his family from St. Fintan’s, Newfoundland to Lake Echo, Nova Scotia.
Jim worked for much of his professional life at the City of Halifax as a Heavy-duty Mechanic retiring in 2013 after having spent 28 years honing his trade and building a brotherhood. Jim was a thorough master of all aspects of his trade – Everyone knew if Jim couldn’t fix it, it couldn’t be fixed.
At Home, Jim was a loved father and husband, and quickly became an integral part of his community. You would often find him building or fixing things for his neighbour, cutting down fallen trees, helping anyone broke down on the side of the road, and working tirelessly at his community church St. Anne of the Lake; all without giving it a second thought. He was known as a jokester and a storyteller, and always captured the attention of his audience.
Jim leaves to mourn his best friend and love of his life for 45 years, his wife Gale (nee Walters). His three precious children: Natasha (Dave), James (Megan) and Ieasha (Keaton); five Grandchildren: Victoria (Michael), DJ, Madison (Brian), Evan, and his soon to be born Grandson Baby MacPherson; one great grandchild Wyatt; As well as “Em’s” special little adventure buddy Brooklyn.
Jim was predeceased by his brothers Mike and Roddy, his father-in-law Gerald Walters and his special Aunt Mary-Anne. Jim is survived by his sisters Tia (Duane), Jenny (Nick) and Annie Mary; his brothers Pat, Roger (Lisa), Raymond, and Leo (Carolyn), his mother-in-law Mariah Walters (nee Gale) and a large circle of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and extended family.
Cremation has taken place, and a funeral service will be announced at a later date due to COVID restrictions
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of James Charles MacPherson November 06 1954 December 11 2020..
