Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Masson (May 24, 1948 – December 5, 2020) at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital, Nanaimo B.C.
Jim was born in Espanola, Ont. the son of the late Roland Masson and the late Kathleen Stoddart. Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Wanda (nee Weronski) of Nanaimo and sister Brenda (husband, Keith Hamilton) of Ridgetown, Ont.
Jim was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Espanola High School after which he attended Algonquin College, Ottawa.
It was while living in Ottawa that Jim met and married Wanda who was the love of his life.
Much of Jim’s life was dedicated to helping others in one way or another. His working career was in retail sales, primarily automotive in which his main duties were management and sales training. He also provided general sales training classes for the young people in the aboriginal community in Duncan, B.C.
He has been a member of Big Brothers and the Knights of Columbus. Jim also enjoyed golfing, curling, hunting and fishing and weekly poker socials with his friends in Victoria, Duncan and Nanaimo.
Jim’s experience in sales led him to authoring 4 books to help others in that field. A fifth book was completed this year.
Jim’s love of writing was also in evidence in the journals that he put together for the many trips that he and Wanda took together over the years. Trips to the USA east coast, Texas, the Oregon Coast, California, Nevada, Arizona and along parts of the fabled Route 66. Of course, there were also trips back to Ontario and Quebec to visit family and friends. Memories that will not be forgotten due to his written legacy.
Jim will be remembered for his sense of humor and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. This includes brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and his many friends and acquaintances.
Rest in peace, Jim. Your journey and struggle are over.
