Obituary of Jacob Huisman
Jacob (Jack) Huisman
Peacefully, on Thursday December 24th, surrounded by his children, in his 89th year went home to be with his Lord and Saviour.
Beloved husband for 58 years of the late Klasina “Sieny” (2015). Dear and Caring Father and Opa to Margaret and John Bekendam, their family Jacqueline and Greg Voorberg, Alison and Dan Westerhof, and Jonathan.
Diane and Herman Meurs, their family Ena, Jo-Anna, Henry and Amy. Cindy and Hank Veenstra, their family Marten and Katelyn, Joshua, James Brandon, and Nathan.
Pieter Huisman, James Huisman and Jacob Huisman. Oldest brother to, Jannie and Franz (2013) Zevenbergen, Sonja (1994), Ton and Trish Lobert, Dinie and Paul Vos, John and Katherine Huisman, Piet and Menks Huisman.
Brother-in-law to Jane(2015) and Ben(1997)Malta, Alice and Bill (2001) TeBrake, Fran and Hank (2011) DeBruyn, Tina and Ray Coleman.
And a dear Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dad was born on February 15th, 1932 in Honselersdijk, the Netherlands.
He immigrated at the age of 18, to Chatham, Ontario. Later he moved to Hamilton where he met his future wife Sieny Visscher.
They got married, moved to Brantford and started their business together, all in the month of June, 1957.
Mom and dad were the owners and operators of the family business Nicol Florist for 63 years. Dad was passionate about the floral industry and always said ‘I never worked a day in my life’. The many employees over the years, were a treasured part of his life.
Jack was a faithful member of Hope Christian Reformed Church. If wished, memorial donations to Indwell or St Joseph Hospice gratefully appreciated.
Private family service will be held at McCleister Funeral Home, with interment at Farringdon Burial Ground. Livestream Service will be available at www.twitch.tv/mccleisterfh
