Jacob Michael Bowie
2000-2020
Bowie, Jacob Michael
“Jake”, age 20, of Afton, Antigonish County, passed
away doing what he loved best on April 23, 2020.
Born in Antigonish, he was the
son of Kevin and Alexandria (MacEachern) Bowie.
A true leap year baby, Jake was
a natural at everything he tried. Racing number
“89”, he enjoyed motor cross, bringing home too many
trophies to count, snowmobiling, four-wheeling (anything outside with
a motor, really), fishing, hunting, and hockey. Playing
guitars with his buddies was the highlight of his weekends. He was
happy and mischievous; he loved to get a rise but could disarm you
with his smile. His quick wit and jokes were the recipe for
being the life of the party. A hard worker since the age of
11, he started small jobs with Forever Green Farms, worked with Nova
Scotia Christmas Tree Association, and then with Francis J.Boyle
Construction, his second family, where it seemed it was more
fun and laughter then work. Fulfilling his trade, he started working
as a power linesman, storm chasing for E. Holland Power Services,
chasing Hurricane Dorian into Florida, and other storms across the
United States.
Jake was the best son, brother,
and uncle in the world. Besides his parents, Kevin and
Sandi, he is survived by his sisters, Heidi and Gracie, Afton; his
niece, Olivia Kaye, whom he adored; his grandmothers, Elaine Bowie and
Bernadette MacEachern; his aunts and uncles, Cindy MacEachern (Dominic
Benoit), Ohio; Joey (Anto) MacEachern, Edmonton; Dawn (Brent) Boyle,
Afton; Michelle (Jeremy) Knight, Fall River; Paul Bowie (Shawna
Merriman), Regina; and many cousins and friends who thought of him as
a brother.
Predeceased by his
grandfathers, Michael Bowie (Afton) and Phillip MacEachern (Ohio); and
his great grandmothers, Mary Kaye MacLean and Mary Marcelline
Delorey.
A private family service will
be held on Tuesday at 1:00, with a live
stream to be made available to family and friends. A
celebration of Jake’s life will be announced at a later
date, with burial in St. Peter’s Cemetery,
Tracadie.
In Memoriam, donations to St.
Peter’s Parish Cemetery appreciated. Funeral
arrangements are under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home,
Antigonish. Online condolences: www.clcurry.com
