Jack Linder
A Holocaust Survivor
Peacefully, on Sunday, October 10, 2020, with his family by his side. Beloved husband of the late Lillian Levine. Adored father and father-in-law of Bonnie, Andrya and Nisso, Scott and Alana. Cherished Papa of Hillary and Dan Cholewa, Duffy Cohen, Marlee and Jaimie-Lee Ifrah, Carlee, Alexandra, and Ryan Linder. Son of the late Sol and the late Bryna Linder. Dear brother of the late Raizel Linder. Brother-in-law of the late Ruth and the late Aaron Olshansky, Ruth and the late Solly Levine. Jack will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, friends, and all those whose lives he touched. The family would like to express their gratitude to Jack’s caregivers, Mary and Stacie, as well as the staff of 3 North at Maimonides, especially Chan and Amanda.
At the young age of 8 years old, Jack was robbed of his innocence and forced by the Nazis into various ghettos and concentration camps, fighting for survival. He watched his sister and mother’s lives taken before his eyes and fought with a strong will to survive. Together with his father, he immigrated to Canada and they worked side by side in the shoe manufacturing industry. Always by his side was his beloved wife, Lillian, his three children and eight grandchildren. He gave his family every opportunity that he was deprived of as a child. The love he had for them was abundant and kept them close-knit, instilling the strongest family values. A joker in his own right, his sense of humor has been passed down generations, and not to worry, the Linder show will go on. A private graveside service to take place. Donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Montreal Holocaust Museum, (514) 345-2605.
“Papa, you taught us the true meaning of love and family, you’re our hero, our inspiration and we love you $16.”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Jack Linder 2020..
