Ivan Foss
It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Ivan Gilbert Foss
announce his passing on Sunday, November 22nd, 2020. Born in Geary, NB
in 1927, he is the son of the late Charles and Muriel (Carr) Foss and
the beloved husband of 62 years to the late Hazel (Stevens)
Foss.
Ivan is survived by and will be forever in the hearts of his
children: Mark (Judy) Foss, Stacey (Kelli) Foss and John (Bea)
Stevens, all of Geary, NB; his daughter-in-law Pam Moss of ON; his
sister Lillian Carr of Oromocto, NB; his eight grandchildren and
eleven great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and extended
family members.
In addition to his parents and the love of his life Hazel,
Ivan was predeceased by his son Miles; his brother Ernest (Eleanor)
Foss; and his brother-in-law Everett Carr.
Ivan worked as a shift supervisor for 40 years in the Water
Treatment plant. He was dedicated and hard-working and
enjoyed his time in the workforce. Although Ivan’s career
had been important to him, he most treasured his loving wife and best
friend Hazel, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He loved the outdoors and he and the family had many wonderful
adventures camping in Deer Island over the years. Ivan took
pleasure in tending his vegetable garden and would share the harvest
with those in need or anyone who would be delighted to
receive. Even though he came across as a “rough on the
outside” kind of fellow, Ivan was a sweet man with a soft
centre. When his own children were young and also, after
they had grown, Hazel and he were known to be the house where all the
kids hung out. From wiener roasts over the campfire, to the
homemade cookies he and Hazel would bake for the multitudes of
neighborhood children, their yard swing and hammock were never
empty.
Although there is sadness in saying goodbye to someone who
has graced this world for 93 years, Ivan’s family takes comfort in
knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved Hazel and is now
grinning from ear to ear.
Due to the current Covid restrictions and in an effort to do
our part in stopping the spread, there will be no public
visitation. A small funeral service will be held at Oromocto
