Anna Gertrude Iskiw (nee Peters)
December 16, 2020
With heavy hearts we said our last goodbyes to Anna as she passed peacefully.
Anna will be sadly missed by her loving partner Jim Blake; daughter Lesley Ann West (Kurt);
Son Bernie Wood (Nicole Sinclair); foster daughter Nicki Specht; grandchildren Cole Sinclair, Bailey Wood, Hayley Rayne, Jolie Specht; and her precious great granddaughter Lily Collins.
She also leaves to mourn her stepmother Edda Peters; brother John Peters (Rita); sister Maria Pavan (Don) and Jim’s daughter Jessica Blake (Kim Rudiger-Prybylski) as well as extended family in Canada and Netherlands and countless friends.
Anna was born in the city of Venlo in the Netherlands and immigrated to Edmonton with her family when she was an infant. Anna lived most of her life in Edmonton and Calgary.
Known as a warm, caring, strong and generous person, Anna stayed positive even when dealing with demanding challenges in life. After losing her mother when Anna was 11, she helped raise her little sister who adored her. She then raised her children on her own after the passing of her father Leslie Wood early in their marriage. Anna became the pillar of strength for their loving family. Her heart and home were always open to others.
Anna was friendly and fun to be with and touched a large number of people. She enjoyed playing golf and missed the game and the camaraderie of their ladies’ group terribly when her failing health took her off the course.
Sincere thanks to Anna’s colleagues and friends at Serenity Funeral Services who were like an extended family to her.
Thanks to the staff at University of Alberta Hospital ICU Unit for their care and compassion.
It was Anna’s wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society) www.scarscare.ca/donate/
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of ISKIW Anna Gertrude nee Peters December 16 2020..
