On Saturday, October 31, 2020 Isabel Jean Newton’s beautiful heart stopped beating and heaven gained another angel. She passed away at the Glenboro Personal Care Home with family at her side, at the age of 93 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children Linda (Frank) Kurbis of Rocanville, SK, Warren (Mary-Anne) Goodmanson of Cypress River, MB; two grandchildren Gaylene (Blair) Olafson and Trent (Janelle) Kurbis, 3 great grandchildren Jenna, Lizzy and Will. She also leaves to mourn her sister Lorna Wallis of Glenboro, MB.
Jean was predeceased by her first husband Gudmundur (Mundie) Ener Goodmanson (1975) and by her second husband Wayne Newton (1984), parents John and Ellen Steele, sister Doreen (Mundie) Bjornson, brother Don (Marie) Steele and by brother-in-law Roy Wallis.
Jean was born to John and Ellen Steele on February 6, 1927 and was raised on the family farm 3 miles west of Glenboro. She attended Hawkins School and completed her education at Glenboro High School. She married Mundie Goodmanson on April 24, 1947 and they lived in Russell, Miniota, Birtle, and Kenora, Ontario. After Mundie’s passing in 1975 she moved to Brandon.
On a US holiday with friends, she met Wayne Newton and they were married on December 24, 1979. After her marriage to Wayne they moved to Glenboro.
Jean loved knitting, cooking, ceramics and she loved spending time playing cards and games with family and friends.
A Private Family Graveside service interment will be held on Thursday, November 5th, 2020 at the Glenboro Cemetery with Sandra Rex officiating.
