Van Der Walt, Isabel Doreen (nee Barron)
Our hearts are sorrowful at the sudden passing of a dear sister Isabel Doreen Van Der Walt on Sunday May 3, 2020 at St Catharines General Hospital. One month short of her 92nd birthday.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Nicolas in Knysna South Africa. Loving mother of Jeffrey Van Der Walt and Janis Arnold (nee Van Der Walt). Beloved mother-in-law of Roz Van Der Walt, all of S. Africa.
Loving grandmother of Brenton Van Der Walt of S. Africa, Tammy Van Der Walt of Pickering On, Mark Arnold of S. Africa, Robyn Arnold-Jeffery (Tyson) and great grandmother to Olivia, George and Harper Jeffrey in Oshawa On. Loving sister of Joan Chapman/Shaw of Cape Cod MA, Barbara Murphy of Cape Coral FL, Murray ( Eileen) Barron of Welland On. Beloved aunt of many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.
Isabel began a career as a secretary at Photo Engravers & Electro Typers in Toronto in 1944, and later became a Medical Secretary in Toronto, Kingston, and after 1968 in S. Africa. Later with her husband Nicolas she became owner of Yellowwood Lodge, Knysa S. Africa. Always energetic, capable and resourceful, she adapted to new and challenging situations in her life with acceptance and courage. Her presence will be deeply missed amongst all her family and friends.
Long a woman of Christian faith, she has entered into rest in the presence of the Lord.
The funeral service to honour Isabel’s life will be private due to the currant restrictions at this time. Interment will take place at Fonthill Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to The Salvation Army Canada.
