Obituary
Irving Leonard Leland, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2020 in hospital at Prince Albert, SK.
Irving was born July 6, 1925, the first child of Anton and Carrie Leland of Weldon, SK. Irving married Lois Braaten on October 23, 1951 in Birch Hills, SK. Irving and Lois were long-time residents of the Weldon area, where they raised six children, and where they actively farmed until 2000.
Irving was devoted to both God and family, and was a dedicated and active church member. He also served on the Weldon school board for many years, and volunteered in prison ministry faithfully in Prince Albert for 40 years. Irving loved fishing, golf, and curling, but above all else he loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends. Irving was always good-natured and sociable, and enjoyed a good laugh, even if the joke was on him!
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Leland; five children, Karen (Larry) West of Edmonton; Barry Leland of Prince Albert, SK; Maureen (Doug) Stobbs of Balcarres, SK; Brenda (Doug) Friesen of Fort St. John, BC; Ryan (Krysta) Leland of Saskatoon, SK. Irving is also survived by his 6 siblings, his 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives. Irving was predeceased by his parents Anton Leland and Carrie Leland; and a son, Brent Leland.
Family and friends are all invited to a Memorial Service for Irving at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Crossroads Pentecostal Assembly, 1510 Olive Diefenbaker Drive, Prince Albert, with Pastor Ches Jacobs as Officiant.
