Irene Viken December 26 1924 May 27 2020

In Loving Memory Of
Irene Viken
Irene Viken, resident of Hythe, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, at the Beaverlodge Hospital, at the age of 95 years.
Irene was born in New Brigden, AB, on December 26, 1924. Her family moved to the Valhalla area when Irene was a child. It was here that she met and eventually married Merlin Viken on April 12, 1947. They settled on their homestead where Irene lived for the rest of her long life. This is where they raised their 4 children, hosted many gatherings of family and friends, and where so many beautiful memories were made.
Irene was a kind-hearted, hospitable Norwegian woman who always had a hot pot of coffee on. She was known as a hard worker and a woman dedicated to her family.
She enjoyed gardening and knitting but, most of all her horses, particularly her pintos. Her soft-heartedness for all animals was one of her many endearing qualities.
Irene will be sadly missed by her 3 surviving children: Leonard Viken, Dennis (Pat) Viken, Daylene (Tim) Dalgleish, her daughter-in-law, Joyce Viken and brother Lawrence (Gunda) Napen, as well as her 9 grandchildren and their spouses, 14 great-grandchildren and many extended family.
She was predeceased by her husband Merlin, her son Larry, her brothers Telmer and Herman Napen, her sisters Bernice (Ole) Kjemhus, and Gilma (Knut) Boness and her parents Hans and Louise Napen.
Due to current health restrictions a private service will be held for family on Tuesday June 2, 2020.
In memory of Irene, memorial donations may be made to the Peace Autism Society.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Irene Viken December 26 1924 May 27 2020..
