Irene Sarafinchan 1935 –

Irene Sarafinchan April 4, 1935 – July 25, 2020
It is with great sadness that the family of Irene Sarafinchan announce her passing on July 25, 2020, in Kamloops BC at the age of 85 years.
She will be forever and lovingly remembered by her children: Carol Pilip, Dwayne Sarafinchan (Roxanne), Bev Smith (Tim), Wendy Draper (Brian), Michael Sarafinchan (Carrie); her Grandchildren: Rob, Corey, Pamela, Brianne, Courtney, Kristin, Jordan, Madison, Emma, Tonya, Naethan & Natalie, and 13 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Helen, Bill & Vince.
She was predeceased by her husband Mike Sarafinchan & her Grandson David as well as her Mother & Father, Frank & Mary Ludwig & her brother Alan.
Irene was born in Mundare, AB. They lived on a homestead in the Ross Creek area and later moved to the small town of Warburg where she spent the majority of her childhood and school years. She moved to Edmonton as a young adult and it was there she met her husband Mike, and they married in 1951. They settled in Prince George where they raised their family and enjoyed a life filled with so many friends and good times. Lots of fun filled summers were spent at their cabin on Cluculz Lake and they also enjoyed lots of camping and fishing trips.
Irene’s love of flowers steered her into a career as a floral designer and a successful business owner. She was the proud owner of two flower shops and flourished in a job that she loved.
Mom’s greatest joy was her family… she always put her kids and her family first and was the most amazing friend to us all, both young and old. She was our greatest supporter and confidant. She inspired us, as she faced each day with strength, generosity and optimism, even when she was facing struggles of her own.
She had an amazing energy and people were drawn to her. She had a big heart and was always full of concern for others. We will miss her wicked sense of humour and sarcasm – we all spent much of our time laughing with her. She was the brightest light!! Her family will forever carry and be grateful for the good values she imprinted into all of us.
One of Mom’s greatest passions was to spend time cooking for family and friends. She loved a house full of people, she always looked forward to stuffing company full of her amazing pyrogees, cabbage rolls, borscht and cinnamon buns. She’d eagerly dash out the door for bingo and loved taking her chances at a casino. She was an avid reader and loved to lose herself in a good book.
Mom spent the last five years residing at Mayfair residence in Brock and she enjoyed the community and the many friends she made there.
A heartfelt thank you for to Dr. Johnson and his assistant Courtney, for their amazing care and compassion. Also to Talyse, the most attentive nurse who took such good care of her in her final hours, Dr. McLaren and Dr. Moon and to all who had a part in managing her health over the last year.
She was thankful for a life well lived.
A celebration of life will take place in September. Donations in Irene’s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation
