Irene Simms (nee Francis) passed peacefully away at her home at 87 years of age, in the presence of her loving family. Irene was born in Hermitage, NL and is now reunited with her late husband Captain Eric Simms, born in Richard’s Harbour, NL.
Irene is predeceased by her two brothers and seven sisters and survived by her brother Ross, Nelson-Meramichi, NB.
She leaves to mourn and cherish their memories, her ten children, Marie (Dave) Twillingate, NL; Alvin (Elizabeth) Sutton, QC; Llewellyn (Florence) St. Albert, AB; Barbara (Gary) Portugal Cove, NL; Vernon (Marina) Portugal Cove, NL; Dean (Cathie) St. John’s, NL; Amy (Gerry) London, ON; Donna (Joe) St. John’s, NL; Rob (Colleen) Portugal Cove, NL; Janice (Monty) Paradise, NL.
Grandchildren: Jason, Colin & Paula; Alexandria, Genevieve & Erica; Jacqueline, Danielle & Gabrielle; Megan, Robert & Kim; Jodie & Jasmine; Morgan; Jonathan; Richard, Devon & Grant; Candace & Cassandra; Emily & Jacob; along with twenty one great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks all her home care workers from Rosemore Home Care services, her dear friend Wanda Tiller and all staff at the Paramedic Palliative Care Program, especially Nurse Jill Greeley.
A funeral service will be held at the Carnell Memorial Chapel, 329 Freshwater Rd., St. John’s, on Friday November 27, 2020 at 11:00 am with the service being a live streamed.
Interment to follow at the St. Lawrence Anglican Cemetery, Bauline Line Ext., Portugal Cove, beside her loving husband Captain Eric Simms.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Daffodil Place, St. John’s, or the NL Kidney Foundation.
A beautiful and wonderful woman, may she rest in peace.
