Obituary of Inez Minnie Lyons
LYONS, INEZ MINNIE
Heaven has received another angelic voice to add to the choir. Inez Minnie Lyons passed away suddenly on April 25, 2020 at the Central N.B. Nursing Home in Boiestown, N.B. She was Born in Carroll’s Crossing, N.B. on August 31, 1925 and was the youngest child of the late John “Donnelly” O’Donnell and the late Zaines “Zamie” (Amos) O’Donnell.
Our mother was a woman of great faith and always played an active role in her church whether it be choir, prayer groups or the missionary society. She was one of the founding members of the Wesleyan Church (formerly Reformed Baptist Church) in Doaktown, N.B. and is probably the last surviving member of that group. Mum loved the Lord with all her heart and lived her life with the certainty that when her earthly journey was over she would come face to face with her Savoir and He would be waiting with arms outstretched to welcome her to eternal rest in His heavenly kingdom.
Mum was very musical having descended from a long line of musicians, singers & story-tellers and loved getting together with her brothers and other family & friends for a sing song, fiddle and guitar playing and lots of great toe tapping music.
Most of all, mum loved her family and devoted her life to being a mother and homemaker raising her six children, daughters Wilma (George) Payne, Sheila (Leonard) Price, Gloria O’Donnell, Peggy (Loren) Lyons, Mavis (Merrill) McKay and her son Bennett (Linda) Lyons; grandchildren, Lisa Payne, Julie (Cam) Hiller, Matthew (Rachel) Price, Bennett (Monica) Hunter, Jamie (Travis) Hunter, Sarah (Chris) Wilson & Laura Lyons; great-grandchildren, Morgan Payne, Delaney Nason, Caleb, Elianna & Timothy Hiller, William & Lauren Price, Matthew & Aaron Hunter, Christen & Casey Wilson; and her only great-great-granddaughter, Jaycee MacDonald. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Mum was the last surviving member of her immediate family and was predeceased by not only all her siblings but their spouses as well – sister, Bertha (Dean) Pond; brothers, Ackerley (Olive), Victor (infant), Perry, Paul, & Gratten (Flora) O’Donnell; half-brother, Murray (Harriet) O’Donnell; half-sisters, Mable (James) Lynch and Florence (Walter) Lyons; and several nieces & nephews.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the staff at the Central N.B. Nursing Home and to Dr. Wood for your loving care and kindness to our mother over the past six years. She loved you all and thought of you as part of her family. Also, thank you to Dr. Chow for your care prior to her going to the nursing home.
In keeping with the provincial restrictions regarding social-distancing, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A celebration of life will be held when restrictions permit.
As mum was such a lover of all creatures great and small, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or the charity of your choice. Personal condolences to the family may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
