Obituary of Ian Joyce
It is with profound sadness that the family of Ian Charles Joyce, husband of Mary (Leger) Joyce, announce his passing on Friday, April 17, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Saint John on April 15, 1944, he was a son of the late Charles and Blanche (Poertner) Joyce. Ian had a 44-year career in the dental business, in sales as well as managing branches in both Halifax and Saint John. After retiring, Ian and Mary enjoyed many winter trips to Florida. He became an enthusiastic member of the Corvette Club; he loved spending time wheeling and dealing, ever on the hunt for his next Vette. In his youth, Ian was an avid ball player. His love of the sport was lifelong and he was always happy to discuss the fortunes of the Boston Red Sox. An active member of St. Mark’s parish, he served on the parish council and was a member of the Men of St. Mark’s. Ian was a loving husband, father, and grandfather; he was proud of his girls and loved visits with his grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Besides his loving wife, Ian is survived by his daughters, Kelley Joyce-Floyd (Allan) of Quispamsis, Carolyn Crawford (John) of Saint John, Suzanne Watkins (Jim) of Belwood, ON, and Ashlee Joyce (Joe Goguen) of Saint John; eleven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Ruth Flood (Michael) of Rothesay, Lynn Roberts of St. Andrews, Judy Dipaolo (Jim) and Cathy Joyce (Frank Murphy) both of Fredericton, NB; and brother Neil (Hansa) of Brampton, ON, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ian was predeceased by his brother Paul Joyce and brother-in-law Harold Roberts.
The family wishes to thank Extra-Mural and the staff of 5CN for their care and compassion.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). A private interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Mark’s Catholic Church would be appreciated.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Ian

Message from Shaun Sullivan who was a co worker with Ian in his Ash Temple days. Ian was a legend in the Dental Sales community. I will always remember Ian as a mentor with a great sarcasm. He put me on a path of a long career in the Dental Sales as well. To the family my thoughts and prayers are with you. Ian will always be remembered.
