HOPE Eric Arnold 1927–

February 6, 1927 – August 7, 2020
After a short battle with cancer, sadly, Eric passed away at home on Friday, August 7.
Born and raised in Toronto, he started working at Canadian Chromalox, met his future wife Catherine on a blind date, married and started a family. After transferring to Montreal, Eric and Catherine settled in Beaconsfield before moving to Hudson where they lived for over 50 years.
Eric was an avid curler, amateur beekeeper, a Jack-of-all-Trades and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. He was well-liked by all who met him, patient, kind, good-hearted, always willing to lend a hand or offer words of wisdom.
Starting in 1946, he spent most of his summers in Temagami, Ontario, first working at a lumber mill his brother managed, then settling into cottage life, developing many friendships.
Eric was predeceased by his wife of 54 years Catherine (née Coats), his daughter Carolynn, two brothers (John and Clare) and three sisters (Ruby, Leona and Vera). He is survived by his daughter Alison, many nieces and nephews, and his special friend Yvonne.
We are profoundly grateful for the support and assistance of Judy, Valérie and the CLSC home care team. Kindly consider a donation to Nova Hudson as a way to honour his memory. No service is planned due to the current pandemic conditions.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of HOPE Eric Arnold 1927–..

  1. So sorry for your loss Alison. I remember how close you were to your father. My Mom died in June this year, so I understand some of what you’re going through.
