Hols-Van Humbeck Annemiek 2020

Annemiek Hols-Van Humbeck, born Alida Thalina Maria Hols, passed away on Friday the 28th of August at the age of 60. Annemiek was the loving mother of the Hols-Van Humbeck Family. She is survived by her beloved husband George Van Humbeck, whom she affectionately called Liefie; her three troublesome “chicklets” Nathan, Aaron, and Maryke; her granddaughter Tarja; as well as her sisters Loesje Tucker and Marijke Hols.
Annemiek was born in The Netherlands, on August 15th, 1960 and immigrated to Chatham with her family at the age of 7. Despite leaving Holland at a young age, Annemiek maintained a strong connection with her Dutch heritage and traditions that have been passed down to her children. Affectionately known as “Meikie” by her family and friends she met George while living in Chatham before moving to Sarnia where they raised their family together. Annemiek is predeceased by her parents Klaas Martinus Hols and Altje Hols Gijsbertsen.
Annemiek’s family fondly remembers how watching the fireworks at Magic Kingdom was her absolute favourite part of visiting Disney. Annemiek would also keep her children home from school on occasion to have a mother-child date in which it was required to keep the adventure a secret from both the school and dad. She shared her love of the Snow Birds with her children and while they were not sure they would enjoy the experience, she was right, as always. Annemiek also loved travelling to Europe including visits to her homeland. She loved working at Sears in Sarnia; helping others was her dream job that she did so well.
Annemiek’s memory and spirit will remain with her family as they celebrate her favourite holiday, Christmas, by continuing to place exorbitant amounts of elves around the house, watching Elf, and blasting Christmas music as early as November 1st.
She was love,
She was laughter,
She was kindness,
A sister,
A wife,
A mother,
An Oma.
We are missing you more than words can say.
Donations in Annemiek’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully welcomed. Arrangements are entrusted to Gilpin Funeral Chapel, 123 King St., East in Forest. Please leave a memory or condolence online at www.GilpinFuneralChapel.com

  1. We live next door to Annamiek & George. We could hear her infectious laugh often – she had such a great laugh! Annamiek would sneak treats to our grand dog when we were babysitting him, and of course the dog would hang out on their lawn more than ours. The four of us shared many glasses of wine and good music together. We will miss her.
George, Nathan, Aaron, Maryke – we are so very sorry for your great loss.

  2. I am sorry for your loss: we were neighbors in Zeist Filips van Bourgondiëlaan and I remember when the whole family packed up for Canada.
Wishing a lot of special memories.
