Hilton Hughes
Feb. 5, 1927 – Apr. 24, 2020
Hilton Hughes passed away on Friday in Lanigan Hospital. He goes to join our mom, Gladys June (Toots) (2009) and our brother, Ern (2019).
He leaves to mourn: Judy (Ken) Dumanski, Lillie James, June (Jim) Reid, Cheryl Hughes plus grandchildren: Jason (Lindsay), Kris, Allison (Brandon), Fischer (Marina), Walker (Alexis), Kevin (Janice), Matthew (Chelsea), Joshua (Mal), Jody and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his twin sister Hilda (Forrest) Pederson, sister-in-law Becky Jones, Toots’ family: Vernell (Walter) Freybe, Shirley (Bob) Gordon, Carol, Clarence (Edna) and Vern (Shirley Ann) Fischer.
He was predeceased by his parents, step-mother Bertha Grace (Jones), brothers Melvin (Nonie) and Walter Hughes, sisters Margaret (Albert) Krause and Erma (Don) Edwards, step-brother Barclay Jones, son-in-law Bruce James as well as June’s parents Ted and Mary Fischer and brother-in- law Edward (Sod) Fischer.
Hilton was born in Cupar to W. E. (Ernie) Hughes and Lillie Gertrude Ward (she passed away when Hilton and Hilda were 2 years old). The Hughes family moved from Cupar to Lockwood in 1941 and that’s where Hilton resided until his passing.
His ashes will be buried in Lockwood Cemetery – because of CoVid 19, no funeral arrangements are planned at this date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Lockwood Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
