Hilda Anna McCollum 1929 2020

Obituary of Hilda Anna McCollum
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our dear mother, Hilda Anna (Lilly) (Denton) McCollum, on Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born May 10, 1929 in St. John’s, NL, she was a daughter of the late Eli and Ida (Priddle) Lilly.
Mom never worried about herself, but always worried about her loved ones. She was “Nan” to everybody, and took special delight in the presence of her family. They could always depend on a warm welcome and lots of comfort food. In losing our mom, we have lost our angel.
Hilda will be missed by her children, Wayne Denton (Patricia) of Saint John and James “Jim” Denton (Jo) of Grand Bay-Westfield; sisters: Evelyn Tidd and Marjorie Denton, both of Saint John; brother-in-law, Jim Bartlett of Gander, NL; grandchildren: Amanda (Steve), Braylon, Cyndy (Jeff), Jody (Bill), Michael (Andrea), Angie (Trevor), and Ryan (Renee); many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Herman Denton; second husband, James McCollum; son, Donald Denton; and grandson, Joshua Denton.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John, NB (634-7425), with visiting on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 10 am until 12 pm, at which time a Celebration of Hilda’s Life will be held, all in Brenan’s Bay View Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.BrenansFH.com.
