Herbert Clayton Chislett
March 16, 1946 – July 30, 2020
Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 30, 2020, Herbert Clayton Chislett of St. John’s (formerly of Heart’s Delight-Islington), aged 74 years.
Predeceased by parents, Gordon S. and Priscilla Chislett; brothers, Cliff and Stewart; father-in-law, Gordon Halley; and brother-in-law, Frances Sooley.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his wife of 27 years, Patricia; children, Richard, Gregory, and Genevieve; brother, George (Beverly) Harnum; sisters, Ella Sooley, Greta Chislett, Janet (Wayne) Piercey, and Lydia (Michael) Smith, mother-in-law, Violet Halley, sisters-in-law, Judi (Clyde) Lush, Janet (Dave) Penney, Christine (Mike) Foley, Eileen (Tony) Turco, and Sheila Halley; brothers-in-law, Paul Halley (Eunju Yeom) and Gordon (Monette) Halley; as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, family, and a large circle of friends.
Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 there will be a private visitation.
A service of celebration for Herbert’s life will be held on Monday, August 3 at 2:00 pm from the Church of the Epiphany, Heart’s Delight-Islington with interment to follow at St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery, Heart’s Delight-Islington. There will be a 50 person limit and social distancing practices must be followed.
As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in Herb’s memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation (www.childrenswish.ca).
