Henry Arnold Hatt
1928-2020
It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Henry
Arnold Hatt, husband of the late Helen (Craig) Hatt on Monday, May 4th
2020 at Lincourt Manor, St Stephen N.B. . Henry a lifelong resident
of L’Etang was born March 11, 1928 to the late Samuel & Ida
Mae (Leavitt) Hatt the 18th of 19 children. As the last surviving
member of his immediate family he was predeceased by 9 brothers and 9
sisters.
Henry was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle to
hundreds. He is survived by three daughters Linda (Bob) Justason of
Pennfield N.B., Cathy (Steve) Howes of Covington Kentucky and Carol
(Sterling) Harris of St. George N.B., six grandchildren Evan
(Victoria) Justason, Tracy (Scott) Underwood, Adam (Betsy) Howes,
Matthew (Christina) Howes, Stephanie Howes & Eden Harris. Eight
great grandchildren Alex & Leah Underwood, Max & Magnus
Justason, Caroline, Maggie, Evelyn & Henry Howes. Henry loved all
of his family dearly. He is also survived by his special niece and
neighbour Glenna (Harold) Ross.
Henry joined the reserve army and was prepared to go overseas when the
war ended. As a boy Henry worked on the family homestead, in the woods
and for Connors Bros. Ltd. At the age of 18 he became employed at St.
George Pulp & Paper he worked many jobs at the mill, obtained his
Industrial Electrician License and became the mill manager. He retired
in 1997 with 52 years of service. Henry was a jack of all trades and
was always wiring or repairing things for others. He was always
willing to lend a helping hand.
Henry was a faithful member of the St George Baptist Church and a long
time brother at St George, Masonic Lodge # 12. He was an avid
woodsman, hunter, fisherman and loved to be on the salt water. He
loved to go on drives and never missed a shopping trip. A well loved
citizen of the St George area he spent countless hours at the St
George Mall on his special bench.
The family would like to thank Eva Firlotte and other support workers
from Kindred Care for their hours of loving care to Henry. Also to the
staff at Lincourt Manor who provided excellent care in his final
weeks.
In Henry’s memory donations can be made to Charlotte County
Cancer or St George Food Bank, two charities dear to Henry’s
heart or to the charity of donor’s choice.
Arrangements are in the care of St George Funeral Home. Due to
Covid-19 restrictions funeral home arrangements will be announced at a
later date on their website.
