Helen’s Obituary
Langille, Helen Ramsay – Age 98, formerly of Bayhead (Tatamagouche) passed away March 14, 2020 in the Northumberland Veterans Unit in Pictou where she has resided since July of 2018. Born in Scotchtown, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes (Ramsay) Harrington. Before leaving home, Helen worked at a grocery store (the Blue Store) in Scotchtown just prior to joining the RCAF. She spent more than three years at Rockcliffe Airforce Base near Ottawa repatriating wounded soldiers returning from overseas during WWII. It was here that she met her future husband, Charles. After settling in Bayhead, she and Charles operated a farm but later, she went to work at Willow Lodge Nursing Home for almost eleven years. She was a member of the Christmas Club, the Community Club and the Bayhead Union Church. She liked card parties, sewing and crocheting, and was an excellent cook. Helen was a people person and thoroughly enjoyed welcoming others to her home. In later years she attended the VON Day Program for seniors. She is survived by son, William (Jacqueline); daughter, Donna; grandchildren, Thelma, Jason, Martin, Jamie and Tyler; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Violet Harrington; brothers-in-law, Doug Langille, Winston Langille and Burt Langille; sister-in-law, Betty Langille; nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles in 2004; son-in-law, James Fraser; brother, Bill Harrington and his wife, Peggy; sister, Agnes and husband Oman Langille. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday, August 2nd, 2020 in Bayhead Union Church, 650 Hwy. 6, Bayhead, with Rev. Penny Nelson officiating. Interment will be in Union Church Cemetery. those attending are asked to observe COVID-19 regulations by wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing. Memorial donations to Bayhead Union Church, Union Church Cemetery or the North Shore Health Services Foundation would be appreciated. Helen’s family extends appreciation to the VON for their assistance in enabling her to remain in her own home until her fall and subsequent hospitalization in 2018. After moving to the Northumberland Veteran’s Unit in Pictou, Helen received professional and respectful care for which her family are most appreciative.
