Helen Marie (Washburn) Connors 1925-2020 Helen Marie (Washburn) Connors, of Upper Blackville passed away peacefully at her residence on May 21st, 2020. Born in Howards, NB on November 19th, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John (Jack) and Ellen (Nellie) (Weaver) Washburn. She was a graduate of Fredericton Business College and prided in telling people that she was one of the first international telephone operators in New Brunswick. She also worked at the Provincial Secretary-Treasurer’s office in Fredericton. In later years, she worked briefly for Canada Post. She is survived by her daughter Rhonda Losier (Adair) Moncton; Sons Kirk, at home, who provided excellent care to his mother over the past 11 years; Brent, Miramichi; Grand-daughters Rachel (Losier) Comeau (Denis) Moncton; Kaylee Losier (Marc) Moncton; Great-grandchildren, triplets, Olivier, Xavier and Daphnée Comeau; Sisters-in-law Louise Washburn (late Thomas); Mary (Connors) Sutherland (late Paul); several nieces and nephews and caregivers Sherrill Keenan and Tanya Furlong. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was pre-deceased by her parents; husband John; children Robert and Jacqueline; in-laws Eugene and Esther (Murray) Connors; sisters Loretta Brophy (late Calvin); Angela (Jean) Brophy (late Christopher); brothers Thomas(Louise); John (Jack Jr.)(late Jean) and sister-in-law; Faye Connors. Helen was a kind, compassionate woman who would lend a hand to anyone. She loved gardening, cooking and often had requests for her famous “scotch cookies”. She loved people and enjoyed attending events such as church suppers, dances and bingos. She was a life-time member of the Catholic Women’s League and made the pilgrimage to Sainte-Anne-de Beaupré for 25 years. In memory of Helen, donations may be made to the churhes of the Good Shepard Parish which include St. Raphael’s, Blackville; Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Howards; Our Lady of Annunication Church, Doaktown or the Alzheimer Society of Canada. There will be no visitation held due to Covid-19. Funeral service and interment at Holy Name of Mary cementary, Blissfield will be held at a later date.
