Helen Joyce Wilson 2020

Peacefully on March 18, 2020, Helen Joyce Wilson passed away at Watford Quality Care Centre at the age of 100. Helen was born on October 14th, 1919, in Warwick Township, to Dennis and Augusta Yorke. She graduated from London Teacher’s College (London Normal School) in 1940.
Helen married Frederick Wilson in 1944 and they served together in teaching and ministry in Bolivia, Brantford, Burch, Alvinston, Brooke-Enniskillen, Bothwell, and Clachan, before relocating to the Arkona area in 1973. Cherished mother to Dennis (Jen) Wilson, John (Diane) Wilson, Beth (Ian) Lambie, Nial (Deb) Wilson and Marie (Ross) Teeple. Also remembered by Sharon Wilson. Beloved grandmother and great-grandmother to Mindy (Keith), Kent (Tara), Kyle (Lauren), Chris (Erica), Jenny (Scott), Cara (Stemon), Matthew (Chantel), Dara (Choo Yeung), David (Courtney), Krista (Arnault), Rhéa (Andrew), Eli, Luke (Emily), Hannah (Sean), Joline (Luke), Jordan (Tess), Amber, Ava, Clark, Bronte, Stella, Molly, Max, Mabel, Bennet, Evan, Patrick, Joyce, Oscar and Arthur. Also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Fred (1984), her parents, Dennis (1939) and Augusta (1987), two sisters Hazel (1972) and Irene (1984), and two infant brothers George Gilles and Dennis Keith.
Helen lived her life, loving her God, her family, and all those around her. She looked for joy and shared kindness. She lived the last four decades of her life in the home that her grandmother purchased the year that Helen was born. In this house, “Grandma’s old house,” Helen loved visiting around her kitchen table and sharing her roast beef Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren. In her nineties, she continued to be surrounded by faithful friends who brought her treats, took her to church, to bible study, to coffee hour, and to her writers’ group.
In the last five years, Helen had the privilege of being assisted by wonderful Professional Care Providers within her own home, in hospital and in the Long-Term Care setting. She remained interested in the lives of so many and cherished her special visits with family and friends throughout the years. She will be greatly missed. A private interment will take place at the Arkona Cemetery on Sunday, March 22, 2020. A public memorial service for friends and family will be held at a later date.
