It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Helen Frances (Thomas) Cloake on May 30, 2020, at her residence at the Richmond Villa, St. Peter’s, N.S.
Born in Point Tupper, N.S. (and a graduate of “PTU”), Helen was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Anne Thomas. She was a devout member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Port Hawkesbury, N.S., and participated in many facets of the Parish community including, as a committed member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild and the Parish choir.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Frances Warner; son, Gillis Cloake (Viola); sister, Mary Patricia Thomas; grandchildren, Andrew Warner (Melissa), Erin Warner, and Shannon MacNeil (Bill); great grandchildren, Maggie, Drew, Jack, Gabe, and Jessie; son in law Albert Warner; nephew, Danny Thomas (Judy) of Ft. McMurray; grandnephew, Michael Thomas (and family) and grandniece, Katie Hussynec (and family).
Helen was predeceased by her husband, John Berchmans Cloake (“Berkie”); daughter, Taira Cloake; siblings, William, Anna, Michael (Marion), Sadie, and Evelyn Thomas.
Helen was a consummate caregiver to the young and old alike. Her influence carried on with those who had the privilege of her selfless compassion and love. She lived a charitable life, never seeking recognition for what simply came naturally to her. Those who knew Helen would remember her for her incredible sense of humor and dry wit, her comedic timing and desire to make others laugh. Helen loved music and loved to dance, which she did regularly at the Villa during celebrations or when simply walking to the dinner table.
Helen was the epitome of grace and humility and the things she held most dear were her family and faith. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of the Richmond Villa, in particular, the crew on Memory Lane, and Dr. James Collins, for their warmth and kindness over the last 6 years.
Cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, funeral mass and burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury.
If so inclined, charitable donations may be made to The Richmond Villa, The Alzheimer’s Society, or Right to Life.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Helen Frances Thomas Cloake June 13 1924 May 30 2020..
