Helen Elizabeth Marie Landry
1946-2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen
Landry of Antigonish, 73, on September 30, 2020 surrounded by her
loving family.
Born in Antigonish, she was the daughter of the late Margaret
I. (MacDonald) and Donald A. Chisholm.
Helen was a caring and devoted wife, mother, and
grandmother. She spent many years co-managing the family
business, alongside her husband, while they raised their two
sons. Helen was a member of the St. Ninian’s CWL
and a longtime volunteer with the Diabetes Association of
Canada.
Helen will be remembered for her gentle, dignified, and kind
ways. She was a very social person and loved all events
where she was able to visit with friends and neighbors or meet new
people. Helen’s favorite spot was in her chair on
the beach. She treasured afternoons surrounded by her beach
family, the sunshine, and the ocean. Helen’s grandchildren
were the light of her life. She made up for not being able
to have sweets herself by ensuring her grandchildren were always well
stocked with goodies. Helen’s generosity to others
extended far, always putting the needs of others before her
own.
Helen will be dearly missed and remembered by her family, all
of whom reside in Antigonish; sons, Paul (Joanne) and Mike (Sharon);
grandchildren, Lauryn, Craig, and Daniel; Sharon’s children
Ginney (Calgary) and Dylan; sisters, Marilyn (Vernon) Dee, Maria
(Gerry) Grant, and Clarie (Roy) Rasmussen; as well as many treasured
nieces and nephews. Helen is also survived by her Landry in-laws, who
held a special place in her heart.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Paul Sr;
their son in infancy, Donald Patrick; Helen’s brothers, John
W and Owen Chisholm; and Helen’s parents, Margaret I and
Donald A. Chisholm.
Visitation will be held at C.L.Curry Funeral Home, 135
College St., Antigonish, on Sunday, October 4, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm,
and 7:00 – 9:00 pm, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated
at St. Ninian’s Cathedral at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 5
with Reverend Donald MacGillivray presiding. Social distancing
protocols are to be followed for the visitation and funeral, and masks
are mandatory.
Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only, please. In lieu of flowers, we ask that
donations be made to Diabetes Canada or a charity of choice. Online
