HENRICA “RICKY” HEIDE, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at St. Michael’s Care Centre in Lethbridge on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the age of 78 years.

Ricky is survived by sisters Anne, and Wilma; brothers, Peter, Gerald, Jacob, Frank, and Joseph. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, sisters Kay and Betsie, and brother Harry.

Ricky was the beloved mother of Dale (Eileen Bona) VandenBerg, Linda (Ralph) Gust, Brian (Nicole) VandenBerg, Jim (Britta) Vanden Berg ; treasured grandmother of Alex (Alyssa) Stepanov, Samantha (Vernon) Mathews, Michael Gust (Lindsey Martini), Nicholas Gust, Jessy Gust, Chase VandenBerg, Jaime VandenBerg, Dale VandenBerg, Joseph VandenBerg, Violet VandenBerg, Erika Vanden Berg, and Leif Vanden Berg; and cherished great-grandmother of Thea and Ira Stepanov, Asher and Ella Mathews, and Oliver and Jake Gust.

Ricky was born to Frank and Maria Vanden Dungen in Borkel en Schaft, Holland on June 23, 1942. The family of ten children came to Canada in 1953, a seven day boat trip across the Atlantic, and a five day train ride across Canada and eventually settled in Picture Butte, Alberta; Ricky married Jan VandenBerg and raised their four children in Lethbridge.

She loved growing flowers and vegetables in every garden she had; and enjoyed the flavours of her homeland, especially cheese and chocolate.

A Private Funeral Mass will be held at ST. BASIL’S CHURCH on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. The Mass will be live streamed and may be accessed via Ricky’s obituary on the Cornerstone website. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all attendees are required to wear a mask and practice physical distancing.
