The family of Harvey MacLeod are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our dear father .
Born in Louisbourg on Feb 4, 1930 as he would tell you in a blinding snow storm.
The son of Malcolm and Jessie MacLeod, Dad was a man of many accomplishments.
Dad was a carpenter, locomotive engineer, musician, avid reader, lover of history and one incredible story teller. He was the last surviving member of the Chameau Treasure Trio.
He worked at Devco for 42 years and as he would say he never missed a shift.
As a member of the Mira fiddlers he enjoyed entertaining at many social functions making music and friends .
He married Mona Corkum in 1958 and together they raised 2 sons, Donald and Stuart.
Together Harvey and Mona operated MacLeods Bed and Breakfast in Catalone where they provided many cups of tea and homemade biscuits as Harvey shared his love for music playing the accordion or fiddle .
Dad is survived by his children Donald ( Cathie ),Stuart ( Suzanne ) and 2 grandsons Jesse and Matthew. Survived also by sister Mary Golinski, sister in law’s Bernadette MacLeod and Marjorie Corkum as well as several nieces and nephews .He was predeceased by our Mom Mona MacLeod and brothers John Angus, Malcolm, Austin, Donnie and sister Ann.
We would like to thank the doctors and staff at Cape Breton Regional Hospitals.
Special thanks to good neighbor Skippy Peck, Max Skinner and Bill Hall for keeping Dad supplied with good reading material .
There will be visitation at the Pentecostal Church,20 Victoria Road in Sydney Nov 25, at 1 pm with A celebration of life at 2 pm.
A private family interment at Loch End Cemetery in Catalone to follow.
