83, of Bedford NS, passed peacefully with family by his side on January 29, 2020. Born December 13, 1936, in NB, he was the son of the late Harry and Mildred (Moody) Coneen. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (MacKenzie) and daughters Shelley (Dale) Crowell, Jackie Kenny (Mark Gibbons), Cindy (Geoff) McLaren, Jeannette Coneen, and Alana Coneen (Jamie Harper). Poppy was adored by 12 grandchildren (Kristina, Jessica, Andrew, Nathan, Connor, Ben, Brett, Jake, Dylan, Reilly, Madeline and Abigail) and six great-grandchildren (Brooklyn, Deacon, Andre, Jase, Aurora, and Amelia) who were the lights of his life. We will all benefit from Poppy’s wisdom for the rest of our lives. Alan was predeceased by his only sister June Turner and is survived by her family Lewis Turner, Ann, John, Jade, and Judy, as well as several nieces and nephews in the MacKenzie family. Alan was proud to be a Civil Engineer working with CN, Parks Canada, and Public Works. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, geocaching, and spending time at the family cottage, and enjoyed playing darts, cooking, and reading. He made friends wherever he went. No visitation or services at his request. Summer interment in Brookside Cemetery. Donations can be made to Bedford Lions Club, where Alan served for many years.
