Obituary for Harpreet Singh Gill
Sadly, our community lost a pillar and a friend to many on April 26th, 2020. Harpreet Singh Gill, 49, favourably known as Gill or Bitu passed away from a tragic accident at home. Harpreet first moved to Grande Prairie, Alberta in 1984 at the age of 14. He watched the city grow with him year by year, and he was always so proud to call it his home. His first step to accomplishing his goals was when he joined the family business of Major’s Restaurant. Here, he met some of his best friends and life partners that provided him the guidance in becoming a successful businessman. Over the years, Harpreet took on important roles in various restaurant ventures, until eventually he caught his big break. He opened multiple Edo restaurants in Grande Prairie, and his locations went on to being awarded with Top Growth Sales Leaders and Most Inspirational in the industry. One advice he always gave was to “Never turn your back on the hand that fed you your first opportunity.” For Harpreet, that opportunity was Major’s, which he always cherished.
Harpreet’s hard-work and dedication did not go unnoticed by his family and friends. He considered each day as a new blessing and continued to endeavour for his family. Despite all the successes his work brought him, his true happiness was with his family. He was a devoted father and husband who always made sure his family was his number one priority and were the most important to him. In his free time, he liked to spend time with his friends and he also loved gardening. Whoever had the pleasure of knowing Harpreet would describe him as a genuine man that dedicated his time and efforts in paying it forward. He was always willing to provide a helping hand for any individual who sought help. Harpreet is survived by his wife Sandeep of 28 years, and his two sons, Sahir and Sanpreet. Harpreet will deeply be missed by his friends and family, and all who knew him.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on May 3rd, 2020 at Bear Creek funeral home on 11802 99 Ave. The funeral will be restricted to friends and family due to COVID-19, but it will be live-streamed on the Bear Creek Funeral Home YouTube page. www.youtube.com/channel/UCQuYjCJhzsvz5NOdsXTUXvw
