HANBURY, Janet

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, Janet Hanbury passed away peacefully at Kelowna General Hospital in the comfort of her granddaughter Teri’s presence. Janet leaves behind her husband Rae; her two sons Craig and Blair; and her three grandchildren Shawn, Teri, and Nicole.
Those who knew Janet would say she was a spunky and lively lady with a youthful spirit. She loved shopping, sharing a glass of wine with friends, and doting on her grandchildren. She and her husband Rae spent their retirement travelling down south in their “Bounderberry” motor home, making new friends along the way, and partaking in many Escapees club activities.
As her health declined Janet and Rae’s snow birding adventures dwindled, and they settled in Kelowna, BC. Here Janet would become a key member on the Bristol Gardens strata council for many years. Her expertise and tech savviness put her in the role of writing the condo’s newsletter. Online Janet was also known as “Big Cookie” a screen name that was very fitting for the playful individual she was.
Janet will be missed but her memories will be held dear by those close to her.
At this time the family will be postponing her Celebration of Life until after the pandemic, and we can all gather and share the loss of Janet Hanbury.
