H. Robert “Bob”‘s Obituary
It is with great sadness and broken hearts to announce the passing of H. Robert Arseneault (Bob); better known to many as Bubba; age 73, peacefully at home Thursday, June 18, 2020. Born in Springhill on February 11, 1947 he was the son of the late Jack & Kay (MacKenzie) Arseneault. Bob left Springhill at an early age when he moved to LaSalle, Quebec where he worked hard for many years to support his family before moving back home to Springhill in September of 1977. Bob worked for Lanes (Bens), driving the Bread truck, putting on many miles for about 11 years before starting his job at the Springhill Arena until it collapsed on February 3, 2001. It was with Bob’s quick thinking that everyone was able to exit the building safely. Bob continued to work for the Town of Springhill at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Centre until his retirement. Bob was a member of the Springhill Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Throughout the years Bob pitched many ball games. Bob had one wicked pitch! Bob also enjoyed many great times curling, playing pool with the boys, golfing with his brothers and a good game of Crowns. But, most of all Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. Bob’s family was the center of his world. They enjoyed many family vacations throughout the years. Bob was happiest when his family was by his side! Bob is survived by his soulmate of more than 54 years, June (Rushton). Bob was deeply loved and will be forever missed as he was the love of her life; his son Rob (Diane)-Halifax, daughters Elizabeth (Pat) Boyce-Bible Hill and Nicole (John) Metcalfe-Springhill; his grandchildren Katelyn, Bobby, Connie and Megan; brothers Jack (Dianne)-Ottawa, Ron (Margaret)-Springhill, sister in laws Bernice and Ginny, brother in law Harold, many nieces, nephews, extended family and special friends Dougie and Pat. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother Ken, mother and father in law Gladys (Maddison) & Harry Rushton, sister in laws, Jeano and Carol and brother in laws, Joe, Harry and Gray. Respecting Bob’s wishes there will be no service, cremation has taken place under the direction of MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Oxford. If so desired, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or Charity of your choice.
