Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of H. Raymond Blackwell, 84, of Saint John, NB. On April 22, at the Palliative Care Unit of the SJRH. Raymond was born on July 30, 1935 in Halifax, N.S He was the son of the late Peggy Philips and the late Horace Blackwell. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, of 43 years, his daughter Robbin Blackwell (Huey McIntyre), his son Wayne (Anna), and his son-in-law Frederick Stanley.
Raymond has 1 granddaughter, the apple of his eye Amy Malley. 5 grandsons: Adam Sherwood, Scott Sherwood, Joshua Malley, Brandon Blackwell and Cody Blackwell. He also has 4 great-grandchildren. Many first and second cousins and dear friends who hold a very special place in his heart.
After living in Ontario for many years, he brought his family back to New Brunswick in 1973. He built the Glen Falls trailer park. He then worked for the City of Saint John, W&S Dept. retiring in 1998.
Ray loved to bowl, play darts, play cards, and golf. He was happiest surrounded by his family. He enjoyed his boats, running the beautiful rivers of NB and his trailers traveling across Canada and the US. He was a life member of the Lions Club and past member of the Saint John ATV Club. He loved meeting people wherever he went, earning him the nickname ‘the social butterfly’.
He was predeceased by his daughter Brenda Stanley, and his mother Peggy Phillips.
There will be no funeral service. Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home in Saint John. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA Animal Rescue.
