Obituary of Gwen (Macumber) (Foote) Ward
It is with great sadness that the family of Gwendolyn L. Ward announces her passing which occurred on Thursday, October 15, 2020, at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born in Saint John on March 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Herbert and Minnie (Porter) Macumber.
Gwen was a lifelong member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church and also a member of the WMS (Women’s Missionary Society). As a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, she always put family and others above herself. A woman of strong faith and spirit who loved to hear everyone’s daily stories. She loved listening to music and singing along, doing jigsaw puzzles, knitting, crocheting, and always enjoyed reading a good novel. Above all, she took great pride in her family and their accomplishments and loved them all dearly. We will forever miss her warm smile and that twinkle in her eye.
A special thank you to Elm House, Loch Lomond Villa for their excellent care. They have become dear friends and part of our extended family especially for Mom during this time of Covid.
Gwen is survived by her daughter, Dianne L. (Foote) Godfrey (Charles), son, Brian Foote (Jennifer); brother, Bart Macumber (Patricia); granddaughter, Cynthia (Godfrey) Chaisson (Michael); grandson, Jonah Foote; great-grandchildren, Andrew Chaisson (Kelsey) and Jessica Chaisson, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Melvin Foote; second husband, Arthur Ward; brother Linwood (Buster) Macumber, and two sisters in infancy, Freda and Gladys.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home (111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB) (634-7424). A private family service will take place at a later date.
