Obituary of Gwendlyn Elaine Jones
The family of Gwendlyn Jones of Saint John are saddened to announce her unexpected passing which occurred on Sunday, June 14, 2020 at her home. Born on June 27, 1931 in Lunenburg, NS, she was the daughter of the late Teman and Harriet (Joudrey) Thompson.
Gwen found great enjoyment from her pets, the many animals and birds visiting her feeders and the beautiful sunsets over the Kennebecasis River. The Royal Family, knitting and crocheting, always gave her joy. She made many friends while working uptown at the Multicultural Association, although she was most content being a homemaker. Gwen’s family and friends will always remember her for her wonderful cooking skills. She will be dearly missed by all of us.
Gwen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brian (Betty-Anne), Thane (Karen), Craig (Tammy) and Mark; brother, Fred Thompson (Judy); sisters, Ruth Lahey and Edith Morgetroyd; grandchildren, Michael (Alison), Ben, Isaac (Paige), Matthew, Samuel, William, Nathan (Martina), Andrew (Breanne), Rebecca (Jonathon), Abagail (Jeremy) and MacKenzie; several great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Palmer and Stuart; sisters, Marion, Thelma, Mildred and Viola; granddaughter, Hannah Jones and most recently the father of her children, Peter Jones.
Special thanks to all the city workers who helped our mom over the years.
A private graveside service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue.
