Graziano Giovanni Simoni Friday July 3rd 2020

Graziano Simoni – November 28th, 1942 to July 3rd, 2020
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the sudden passing of our dear father Graziano Simoni at the age of 77. He will be deeply missed by his cara Romilda of 53 years. With every trip to the grocery store, he made sure to include flowers for her as he knew it would make her happy.
Graziano was an extremely proud father, dedicated husband and very proud nonno. That love for his family was evident as he was always ready and available for anything they needed. He accepted everyone for who they were, never judged anyone and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Graziano came to Canada from Italy in 1966 with $44 in his pocket (he told that story often). He wanted to start a better life for himself and his bride-to-be. When Romilda arrived at the airport in Toronto, he brought them to the train station much to her surprise as she felt a taxi would be more appropriate for the sacrifice she had just made leaving her family in Italy…she didn’t realize how far Sudbury was and they would laugh about that for years to come!
Graziano, Graz as he was called by his bowling buddies and co-workers, loved to watch sports. Many a ribbing could be heard between him and Joe when Chicago was ahead of Toronto in the playoffs. He was an avid bowler and curler in his younger days.
He is survived by his children Lucia (John LeBlanc and son Alexander) and Manuela Vairo (Joe) and 2 grandchildren who he adored greatly, his chico and chica: Jordan and Francesca. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Lisetta (Aldo) and Bruna (Andrea deceased), brothers & sisters-in-laws Anna Maria (Silvio) and Claudio (Ornella) along with nieces and nephews living in Italy. Several close friends with whom he shared a glass of wine and played cards with on a Saturday night will feel his absence.
He will always be remembered for his genuine, loving nature and his extremely strong work ethic, a man who always put the needs of others before his own.
He was taken from us too soon, he was our strength and our rock – his advice and guidance over the years will now be our strength as we figure out life without him.
You’ll forever be in our hearts and in our minds.
