Obituary of Grace Arleen Bruhm
BRUHM, Grace Arleen – Age 93, Cookville, passed away on January 1, 2020, at Harbour View Haven Nursing Home, Lunenburg where she resided since 2008. Born on January 24, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Leda (Arenburg) Oickle.
Grace is survived by her son, Peter Bruhm, Cookville; sisters, Betty Conrad, Bridgewater; Sylvia (Del) Thimot, Dartmouth; Alice Conrad, Bridgewater; Linda (Dennis) Steeves, Conquerall Mills, sisters-in-law Julia and Marci Oickle, Helen, Patsy and Paulette Bruhm, brother-in-law, Lawrence Bruhm and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Bruhm; sisters: Doris, Ethel (died in infancy); brothers: Murray (died in infancy), Clyde, Fred and Paul.
Grace served her community in many ways: St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Sunday School teacher and choir member, President of the Dorcas Sewing Circle, President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Northfield District Fire Department, a volunteer at the West Northfield Community Centre and as a member of Legion Branch 24 Auxiliary.
Grace’s family would like to thank the staff at Harbour View Haven for their care and compassion for the past eleven years. There is no visitation by request.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home, 35 York Street, Bridgewater. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, West Northfield, Rev. Svante Olson officiating. Family flowers only please.
