Mrs. Grace Goldsmith
It is with sadness that the family announces that Grace Goldsmith peacefully ascended to her eternal home on Tuesday December 22nd, 2020, from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, with her husband by her side. Grace was in her 80th year. Cherished daughter of the late Theodore and Lucy Dyck, and stepdaughter of the late Eleanor Dyck. Beloved wife of Richard. Loving mother of Alan and his wife Bonnie of Thamesville, Kevin and his wife Anne of Chatham, and Brett and his wife Kelly of Chatham. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Braden (Robyn), Lyressa (Patrick), Joel, Tanner (Maddy), Rebekah (Daniel), Connor, and Jeremy, and great grandson Ryerson. Dear sister of Robert Dyck and his wife Miriam, and Arthur Dyck and his wife Lynn.
Grace’s
life was a full and rewarding one. She
devoted herself to the nursing career that she loved and spent forty years as an
OR nurse at Public General Hospital and CKHA.
Along the way she had associations with Red Hat Ladies and Quilters
while also participating in church activities at the Salvation Army. Along the way she gained many lifelong
friends.
Grace’s most abiding passion however was her family. She was privileged to have three sons who she
loved unconditionally. She took great
joy in their academic achievements and was an eager fan of their sporting
participation, particular hockey, basketball, baseball, and football (not so
much).
The
family expanded when three loving daughters-in-law were added which eventually
gave her the opportunity to share interests with her grandchildren, both in
athletics and in other disciplines. Her love
expanded to include all and never wavered, even to include a recent
great-grandchild.
A private funeral service will take place. Cremation to follow with interment at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington St. West, Chatham, Ont., N7M 1J9, 519-352-2710. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Chatham Kent Alzheimer Society and the Salvation Army Chatham-Kent Ministries.
